The neighborhood
Uptown was one of Chicago's entertainment centers in the 1920s, and its theaters and ballrooms are still a big part of its identity. The Green Mill, the Aragon Ballroom and the Riviera all draw crowds.
Beyond the music venues, Uptown holds some of the North Side's best vintage architecture: terra cotta commercial buildings along Broadway, large Queen Anne homes and early apartment buildings in Buena Park and Sheridan Park, and lakefront parks around Montrose Harbor.
